Preview, Pakistan versus New Zealand, T20 World Cup

A qualifying match between two traditionally strong and always entertaining T20 outfits in Pakistan and New Zealand promises to be an absolute humdinger.

Duly lets look at the ins and outs of the clash and determine a winner

Likely Teams

We have not seen Pakistan as yet in the Tournament with our only guide being a miraculous victory against India in a warm up match. The Team has been settled for a while in T20 and promises to be as follows

1, Mohammad Hafeez, 2 Imran Nazir, 3 Nasir Jamshed, 4 Kamran Akmal (wk), 5 Umar Akmal, 6 Shoaib Malik, 7 Shahid Afridi, 8 Abdul Razzaq, 9 Sohail Tanvir, 10 Umar Gul, 11 Saeed Ajmal.

New Zealand

The Kiwis have been robbed of one of their T20 guns in opening batsman Martin Guptill. So it looks as though that they will persist with a makeshift opening partnership of James Franklin and Rob Nicol as openers until he returns. Their smoking gun in Brendan McCullum will come in at three

1,Rob Nicol, 2 James Franklin, 3 Brendon McCullum (wk), 4 Ross Taylor (capt), 5 Kane Williamson, 6 BJ Watling, 7 Jacob Oram, 8 Daniel Vettori, 9 Nathan McCullum, 10 Tim Southee, 11 Kyle Mills.

The Keys to winning.

On paper most would agree that Pakistan has New Zealand covered and duly should win comfortably

But is anything certain when you are talking about Pakistan????????

The one thing you know is that Pakistan's bowling is potentially lethal and with its strength in spin bowling it should lord it over the Kiwi batsmen. Who are often made to look silly against even average spinners let alone high class ones.

A huge focus in this match will be on BOOM BOOM Afridi, who has destroyed batting line ups in T20 with his very accomplished fast leg spin, but of late has struggled.

Making a few question him, but a big stage for him to shine on, I think fans know we will see Afridi back to his best

The bowling inspires awe whereas the batting makes you get jittery

Leading you to fear that  the only way for them to be upended in this match is if their questionable batting lets them down

To avoid this the Captain Hafees at the top of the order will play a huge role. A player who has a claim to being one of the best players in the T20 arena. If he can perform, he will represent the glue for the more adventurous types like Jamshed and the returning Imran Nasir to excel around

And then we come to a Tale of 3

In regards to the Cobra like trio of Shoaib Malik and The Akmal brothers

Cobra like for everyone knows they are potentially lethal, but such is their unpredictability you just never know if they will strike or just swing.

If they do strike.............

Revert back to the Cobra reference for they are lethal!

New Zealand

The loss of Guptill is huge with him being a devastating T20 batsman.

It is made worse by the absence of Jesse Ryder in this Kiwi Team which takes away another lethal batting force.

Duly the success of the Team will rely on two factors in regards to Brendan McCullum and Ross Taylor remaining stellar and then the lesser lights rising to the occasion

You would back the first part of that quandary being a reality for both those batsmen are T20 Masters even against exceptional bowling line ups like Pakistan's

Sadly the lesser lights look like for the most the definition of paper Tigers

Only Kane Williamson and James Franklin inspire a bit of hope, and they both will have to be at their best to become factors.

New Zealand's best chance of winning is to try to exploit Pakistan's batting

To do this strike bowlers like Tim Southee need to recapture the sort of form he displayed at last years ODI World Cup where he was lethal.

If he can get early break throughs it will put the pressure on the Pakistani batsmen and with that it might lead them into batting madness for which they have a reputation for.

The spinners in Dan Vettori and Nathan McCullum also will be huge in making this a reality with their undoubted ability to stifle scoring while taking wickets.

Lastly New Zealand needs to field in a high class manner that has always been their reputation which will act like a 12th man in the opportunities it will create

Pakistan's bowling will destroy the Kiwi batting paving the way for a Pakistani win
