Preview, Australia versus West Indies, T20 World Cup

Although both Teams are relative assured of a place in the Super 8's barring a Lazarus like comeback from Ireland. This match still represents a great opportunity to prove their calibre, and going forward the confidence that that gives could be like having a 12th man.

So lets see which Team holds the edge

Likely Teams

There is doubt over both Mitchell Starc and Brad Hogg, but the consensus coming from the Team is that both should be fit. The main point of contention is Cam White being preferred to Dave Hussey in the Team. Which when you take into account that Hussey is a very accomplished T20 all rounder with both bat and ball against White who has been hopelessly out of form with the bat and rarely if ever bowls. It truly borders on being retarded from a Selection point of view

So, the Team will be as follows:

Watson, Warner, M Hussey, Bailey, Maxwell, White, Christian, Wade, Starc, Cummins, Hogg

West Indies

The Windies main point of contention is who will partner 'The Gayle Storm' at the top of the order. This is a three way discussion between Dwayne Smith, Johnson Charles and Llendl Simmons. If it was my choice, I would have Smith open, bat Simmons at 3 and then have Charles take the gloves from Ramdin to strengthen the Windies batting

The rest of the team picks itself

Gayle, Smith, Simmons, Samuels, Dw Bravo, Pollard, Russell, Sammy, Badree, Narine Edwards

The Keys to Win

In my mind the Aussie Team is a bit like a Bus with a few passengers on it

Especially in their batting

At the top end of their line up they have some exceptional players with Shane Watson staking a claim to being the best player in the shorter form of the game, the batting might of Dave Warner and Mike Hussey. Then from a bowling point of view the opening duo of Starc and Cummins are not yet established stars, but have the potential to be lethal.

These stars are good enough to carry the Team to victory against most Team, but against a very accomplished T20 outfit like the Windies the lesser lights will need to lift.

That is why the omission of a man in Dave Hussey who played a very competent supporting role was so curious

Duly who in the rest of the line up inspires hope if the big names fail?

None really.

White should be back in Melbourne enjoying this beautiful sunrise. Bailey was made Captain of the side with no one understanding how he got in the Team let alone be bestowed this honour after a very average Season in the Big Bash.

Matty Wade is a good player, but looks fragile against spin- ouch- Badree and Narine.....

Then there is Glenn Maxwell, who might be that Xfactor that Australia so need. With him showing real class and composure against a very accomplished Pakistani Team recently in the dessert.

If these lesser lights can lift, Australia have a Team that could win the Tournament.

West Indies

A certain birthday of one Christoper Henry Gayle aka 'The Gayle Storm' was celebrated recently

Do you think he might invite the Aussies for a special type of celebration in this match?

He is ever the showman, so a Gayle rampage would not surprise....

Away from the almost complete focus on Gayle from fans and the Media the Windies have a few queries that they need to address to win this match.

In regards to the support in the batting for Gayle

The Windies have arguably the most brutal array of hitters in the World cup, but the key to their ultimate success might be a batsman who can be that solid presence that glues the innings together.

They have a perfect candidate for that role in the renaissance man Marlon Samuels who is a high class batsman that could tick the scoring over, blunt the dangerous bowlers allowing the sloggers to slog

If they can find that balance in their batting they will be so hard to beat.

For their bowling led by their very miserly and accomplished spin duo of Badree and Narine are devastating. More so against a Team like Australia that has been known to be spin shy in the past

Then they have very able pace stocks and a host of part timers that in T20 are very dangerous

This game is a potential pearler with a Bees dicks between the Teams

But I just have a feeling the Windies will prevail
