India versus Australia- A Game To be Decided By Selectors

You could quite literally cut the air with a knife in the lead up to the India versus Australia clash in the aptly named 'Group of Death'. Both having the utmost respect for the current foe and the fear factor it imbibes as well as having an eye forward on the immense challenges facing them to make the Semis.

A lose would not eliminate, but it would make the pressure resemble a blow torch which is never a good thing when playing against the class Teams in the proceeding clashes in the group.

The Lead Up/ Likely Team

Anyone for an Indian Soap Opera??????????

Hehe, well the lead up to this game has resembled that for our Indian friends revolving around one name

Virender Sehwag

"Sehwag's position in the batting line-up is a no brainer. Dhoni has to trust Sehwag's abilities,"  ( Wasim Akram )

Not so according to the Captain M.S.Dhoni, who has shown every indication that he will go into this game with 5 bowlers by leaving out Sehwag.

Which for a figure as worshipped and loved as Viru in India has caused outrage, and you could back this if Sehwag was the mauler that has destroyed attacks all around the World.

But the reality is twofold with Sehwag struggling for a good long time and India's main weakness being bowling.

So if indeed they do select 5 bowlers, Dhoni needs to be lauded for his man size plums and it could be the move that could make India a real threat.

This leaves the question being who will be that 5th bowler.

For me with the opposition being Australia and their reputation of being very suspect as a Team against spin. My Team would be as as follows:

Gambhir, Irfan, Kohli, Sharma, Yuvraj, Raina, Dhoni, Ashwin, Harbhajan, Chawla, Balaji

The Lead Up/Likely Team

Obviously with an eye to the biggest game in Australia, its Football Grand Final on Saturday Mike Hussey referred to this game as the Teams 'Grand Final'

Keeping this in mind the main talking point will be whether Australia treats this as a Grand Final and picks its best Team

Meaning Cam White gets the flick and arguably one of the best all rounders in the T20 game in Dave Hussey gets a call up

Leaving the Team as follows

Watson, Warner, M Hussey, D Hussey, Bailey, Christian, Maxwell, Wade, Starc, Cummins, Hogg

Sadly for Aussie fans, it seems sanity will not prevail leaving White in the Team

A Look at The Teams

Both Teams have obvious strengths, but then glaring weaknesses as well with the match being won by the Team that best covers their weakness while exploiting their oppositions one.

Firstly on India, the bowling is an accident waiting to happen with only the zealots not being able to realise this. India's Team reminds me of a Football Team that has brilliant attacking flair that allows them to score goals easily, but then a toilet of a defence that leaks goals just as easily.

So against better Teams they can always loss 5/4 or in T20 parlances score 200, but still get beaten.

Duly it makes such sense to address this by adding an extra bowler and sacrificing a batsman. Which when you looked at India in the lead up games with 7 specialist batsmen in a 20 over game with the struggles of their bowling.

You were compelled to question the competence of their Selectors

As for Australia, well Blind Freddy can see that they have a very unhealthy reliance on the all round mastery of Shane Watson.

This is not to say that Australia is a one man Team with other T20 stars like Dave Warner and Mike Hussey and the inexplicably omitted Dave Hussey as well as fast bowling gems in Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc.

But Watson is the man that makes them all walk bigger with the pressure he takes off them

Whether it be with his bowling mastery which sees him open the bowling and get wickets or in his blitzkrieg batting at the top of Australia's order.

The games destiny for Australia will rest around Watson's effect for outside of him and a few aforementioned others.

Australia's Team resembles a Bus with a few passengers on it

India will win if they have the courage to play 5 bowlers, and in particular a extra spinner with them exploiting Australia's weakness against Spin.

If they back down, and keep the current 4 bowler line up. I can see Australia's top three batsmen going ape shit and racking up a huge score or chasing any score easily.

I should not fence sit for it gives me splinters!!!!!!!!!!

India will win!
